Hynotherapy involves exercises are used that bring about deep relaxation and an altered state of consciousness, also known as a trance. Many people routinely experience a trance-like state, when we do things automatically, e.g. while they are watching television, taking a shower or sitting at a red light. This is the same state of mind induced by hypnosis. It is not dangerous or unpleasant.
A person in a trance or deeply focused state is unusually responsive to an idea or image, but this does not mean that a hypnotist can control the person’s mind and free will.
Hypnosis is a very pleasant, relaxed, and totally natural state. While you are in hypnosis, you will still be aware of everything that is happening around you and you will not be ‘asleep’, merely very relaxed with your mental focus turned inwards. You will remain in control at all times.
Once a client is in a trance-like state the we will utilise a number of tools and techniques, such as suggestions and visulisations to help break the negative cycles of behaviour that have been learnt and adopted throughout your life. Once these learned behaviours have been broken, then new and positive behaviours can be introduced so that your life can be enhanced and your full potential reached.
